“European charm”
Reviewed March 7, 2012

We spent couple of days around Southport and enjoyed our stay at the Southport inn B&B.
It’s in the middle of Historic Downtown, 2 blocks from the Cape Fear River.
Breakfast was delicious; Irenas trademark.
If I ever travel near Southport, this is the place to stay.

We drove from NY to Miami in January and stopped at The Southport Inn. Stayed a few nights, what a lovely place. Irena is a great hostess. Our room was very comfortable. Southport is a charming, friendly town. Nice walking along the water. The value is very reasonable. Highly recommend this B&B.

“A fabulous Find”
Reviewed December 31, 2011

This is a long overdue review as I stayed at this lovely inn back in october. What can I say? Irena is amazing and her comfortable inn was like a home away from home. The rooms were all appointed beautifully and the beds were quite comfortable. Her attention to detail is superb and her well stocked kitchen made our stay extremely pleasant.
The house dog “Bear” is so friendly and loved to smother me with kisses….I wished I could have taken him home.
The location of the inn is perfect and one doesn’t need a car…waterfront, restaurants, shopping etc
I will return when the weather warms up so I can visit the fabulous beaches of oak island and other fabulous beaches in the area.
Thank you so much Irena …happy healthy prosperous new year
All the best in 2012

“Best place to stay in Southport”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

I stayed at the Southport Inn during my business travel and this is one of the most beautiful B&B I have stayed in. Very impressed; beautifully decorated inside and the bed was extremely comfortable, slept like a baby:). The location can’t be beat. It’s convenient to everything restaurants, beach and it is in a lovely walkable neighborhood. Irena, the proprietor, was outstanding. She made sure that I had everything that I needed during my stay. After a long day at business meeting, she actually greeted me at the door and asked about my day. It was quite a pleasant surprise to find someone willing to be so caring and helpful and she was also more than helpful in providing information on dinner establishments. It would be hard to find anything even slightly negative to say about my stay. Everything was exactly perfect.

The first moment we walked in we felt awesome. The place is very welcoming and Irena is a great hostess. She made us feel like home. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Nothing is better then go on vacation and not use a car. Everything is within walking distance, and everybody is very friendly everywhere you go. We would definitely go back and will recommended to everyone.

“Great hostess”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

We were on our way to Bald Head Island for my daughter’s wedding and stopped for the night at Southport Inn. The house itself has been recently renovated and was quite charming. Irena is the new owner and has tried very hard to get out information about her new bed and breakfast. She was very friendly and extremely accommodating. She not only worked with us on our late arrival, but also helped us by storing our luggage the next day. This bed and breakfast was very cozy and warm, with excellent beds and linens. Southport Inn is located within walking distance of a great restaurant recommended by Irena called The Pharmacy. We will definitely recommend this to our friends and will stay there in the future.
Room Tip:We picked the one with the handicap bathroom because it was so much bigger.

“Pure Delight!”
Reviewed November 1, 2011

The Southport Inn is a special place. I spent my Labor Day weekend there. The room was spotless, rustic, cozy, charming, and comfortable. The common areas were also homey and inviting. The proprietor, Irena, was attentive and very friendly. She was the perfect host. She is also a great artist, and she taught me to make an acorn tree in a beautiful decoupage planter she made. It is a great location, reasonable prices, and short walking distance to great waterfront restaurants and local shops. This inn is a delight!

“Cozy, quiet, and convenient!”

My fiancé and I spent a lovely weekend at the Southport Inn. The rooms were reasonably priced compared to other B&B’s we looked at in the area, and the owner was very sweet! We really loved it, and plan to visit again next year! Thanks again!

“wow!”

I’ve stayed in many B and B’s over the years but this one in Southport really stands out. The room was impeccable and was sanitized with a special process using a UV system. If you like historic charm this B and B has it all. The hostess is also a skilled artist that taught us how to create decoupage 3D art which is displayed throughout the house. She decorated the house in Victorian charm style and when it comes to baking she makes the best Czech Christmas cookies in town! We can’t wait to head back over the holidays to Southport Inn. it’s located in the heart of downtown near some great waterfront restaurants and local shopping including The Christmas House.
